Teresa has over twenty years legal experience (having been called to the Bar of England & Wales in October 2000) where she practiced for fourteen years and gained extensive trial advocacy and general dispute resolution advocacy experience in all areas of general common law including:

  • Criminal and Regulatory law
  • Commercial law
  • Immigration and extradition law
  • Family law
  • Insolvency

In the UAE Teresa has gained specific UAE expertise (since 2015) in the following:

  • General Commercial law (specifically drafting and review of contracts) and disputes
  • DIFC Courts including Small claims, Court of First Instance and Court of Appeal
  • Arbitration: domestic and international
  • Provision of legal training on CLPD courses

Experience Highlights

Teresa then retrained to become a self employed barrister at Chambers in London where she prac-ticed for around 14 years gaining invaluable trial and appellate advocacy experience. After leaving Chambers, Teresa joined a firm in the UAE and has been practising law in the UAE for over 7 years now. She has extensive experience working with the DIFC courts, and in particular, with re-gards to arbitrations.

Teresa’s extensive trial advocacy experience, gained from years of involvement with the English civil and commercial court system, gives Teresa a unique advantage in the presentation of applica-tions, trials and appeals (especially with the DIFC Courts). She has been actively involved in the enforcement and appeal of foreign arbitral awards in the CFI and CA and can also act as counsel in both domestic and international arbitrations.

Career History

Teresa started her career in the City of London where she quickly rose to a senior management position in the global emerging markets.

Retraining as a barrister (called in 2000) Teresa practiced within London Chambers and combined her practice with training law graduates (on the Bar Professional Training Course) as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Law, London.
